The Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) and Singapore Police Force (SPF) take training safety very seriously. It is anchored by 3 key components:
The leadership of the SAF, SCDF, and SPF are committed to safety as a priority and set clear directions for the organisations. The command emphasis, strategic direction and policies provided by the leadership play an important role in shaping the culture of safety in National Service (NS).
The SAF, SCDF, and SPF’s safety management systems are aligned to the internationally recognised International Organisation for Standardization (ISO) 45001 Standards for Occupational Health and Safety Management, the world’s international standard for occupational health and safety, and helps organisations provide a healthy and safe working environment for both employees and visitors. Safety processes are driven by safety agencies such as the respective Service Inspectorates and Formation or Unit Safety Offices. There are strict and extensive safety measures in place to safeguard our servicemen against training accidents and injuries. The curriculum is also planned in a progressive manner to ensure that our servicemen do not overexert and gradually reach the required fitness level.
The SAF, SCDF, and SPF seek to build a strong safety culture where each person feels a strong sense of ownership for his own safety and the safety of those around him. Your son or ward will be taught to safeguard his own safety during training as well as to look out for his peers. All servicemen are empowered to call for a safety pause at any time, without fear of being punished or reproached.
